EXPLOSIONS
Several types of explosions must be evaluated for nuclear power plants to be licensed for operation. These are flammable gas storage explosions, flammable gas cloud ignitions and other chemical explosions, both liquid and solid.
Flammable gases, like hydrogen, are evaluated per NRC Regulatory Guide 1.91.
Delayed ignition of flammable gas clouds are evaluated per NRC Regulatory Guides 1.206 and 1.70.
Liquid and / or solid chemical explosions are evaluated per NRC Regulatory Guide 1.206.
Evaluation of postulated explosion of the high pressure hydrogen storage bottles is performed using the methodology of EPRI NP-5283-SRA.
